The long winter retreat is over as spring ushers in a time of renewal and nature beckons us to focus on new life everywhere.

I was down by a stream in the Villages, Fl when I stumbled upon this mallard hen and her ducklings.
I can't even begin to tell you just how delighted I was. With an open wide heart and a smile from ear to ear I quietly sat in their presence and watched them for the next couple of hours.

I watched the little ducklings follow one another, flapping their wings splashing little droplets of water in their face while the beads of water would quickly repel off of their tiny feathered bodies.

I watched them explore underneath the rocks, and venture onto the land or get caught up in a tiny whirlpool and frantically swim getting back to safe ground.

The mother hen always had me and her family of ducklings in her direct line of vision at all times.

When the little ducklings got tired from playing; they climbed high up on this rock and tucked themselves underneath their mother's wing snuggling in close to her body.

It was truly a “Nature's Masterpiece.' and the moment that I had been waiting for.
