The grace, beauty and simply divine elegance that the blue bearded iris brings to any flower garden is beyond words.

My first thought when I saw this lovely blossom was, “What a beautiful soul." My second thought was, “How am I going to capture the divine elegance of this beautiful flower?”

I walked around and looked at every angle possible and then just as I was deciding where to point my lens, the beard of the iris was highlighted by the rays from the sun above.

Later on during the processing stage of this lovely blue iris; I chose to add a stark black contrast in the background to highlight the divinity and grace that this beautiful soul blossom had revealed to me on that wonderful spring morning.

My hope was that I could capture the beauty of how she made me feel in that moment and pass that same feeling on to others.

Based on my thoughts that day, I chose to name this composition, “Soul Blossom.”
