Aside from the beautiful egrets, the Roseate Spoonbill is by far one of my favorite birds. I finally had the opportunity to photograph one of these gorgeous birds the other day. I can't even begin to tell you just how happy I was.
The flamboyant plumage of the Roseate Spoonbill and their spoonbill beaks, sets them apart from many other wading birds.
Their colorful plumage ranges from soft pink to fuchsia, mauve, white and in between shades. They have bright red eyes and a spatula shaped spoonbill beak.
The Roseate Spoonbills are a wading bird typically found in shallow freshwater, saltwater wetlands, mangrove, marshes and swamps.
This specific species of birds is one of 5 species that are only found in the Americas.
